Biography
Milena Veselinovic was born in 1985 in Belgrade, Serbia and started piano lessons at the age of five. She received her musical education alongside her classical education at the ‘Kornelije Stankovic’ Gymnasium in Belgrade and during her time there she was awarded a number of prizes for outstanding musical achievement, such as the award for the best student of the year. She pursued her further musical education in London where she is currently studying at Masters in the Advanced Performance programme at the Royal College of Music.
Milena gave her first concert at the age of seven and has been performing regularly ever since. Her concert engagements have taken her across Europe, with highly acclaimed performances in France, Germany and England. Milena won prizes in many competitions of which the highlights include second prize in the Nikolai Rubinstein Competition in Paris, which she won despite being the youngest contestant and first prize and absolute winner of the Chopin Festival in Belgrade which gave her the opportunity to perform in the in the most prestigious hall in Belgrade, Kolarac.
Milena has given concerts widely around Belgrade, performing many times in the Atrium of the National Museum, Ethnographic Museum, at the Eric Satie Festival and a special performance for HRH Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic at the former residence of Princess Ljubica (Konak Kneginje Ljubice). Recent performances in London include evening concerts at St. Stephen’s Gloucester Road, a lunchtime recital at the Claremont Centre, Islington and a recital with the Aldgate Concert Society.
Milena had her concerto debut playing Bach concerto for piano and orchestra F Minor with the Thames Philharmonia. In July 2006 Milena performed at the Duxbury Music Festival in the United States and in November she played at a gala concert in the famous Bolshoi Hall (Great Hall) of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, also giving a performance at the legendary Central School of Music (Moscow). Future performances include a recital at St. James’s Church, Piccadilly (London) and a concert at the Royal College of Music.
Teaching is a great part of Milena’s musical activity and she has years of experience tutoring both advanced students and beginners. Her lessons are fun and insightful and she custom makes her approach to fit each individual student's need and ability with the aim of developing their own potential to the maximum. Milena encourages her pupils to be imaginative and creative and teaches them how to build upon their unique characteristics. Her students have had great success in taking the Associated Board exams and she strives to make learning piano a joyful and exciting process, whether for young students or adults who want to take it up for fun.
