Biography
Julian Jacobson is a pianist and teacher of international standing.
He studied at the Royal College of Music, Oxford University and privately with the great Hungarian pianist Louis Kentner, and was also a founder-member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
As a solo pianist and ensemble player he has toured in over forty countries on five continents and made more than 20 CDs. His first teaching position was in the Junior Department of the RCM, followed by appointments at St Paul's Boys' School, Royal Holloway College, the Guildhall School and Goldsmith's College.
From 1992 to 1996 he was Head of Keyboard Studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, building up one of the UK's most innovative piano departments.
Since 2000 he is a professor of piano and chamber music at the Royal College of Music. He gives frequent masterclasses to both professional and amateur pianists and has adjudicated three times at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
He is also a Diploma Examiner for the Associated Board.
