Biography
Bulgarian-born pianist Ivan Yanakov is the winner of ARTISTS INTERNATIONAL DEBUT WINNERS SERIES in New York City. He was awarded a fully sponsored solo debut recital at Carnegie's Recital Hall in October 2001.He has over 17 years of piano and music theory teaching experience, 10 of which in New York City
Mr. Yanakov is also winner of numerous international piano competitions. He has performed in France, Japan, Italy, South Korea, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Bulgaria, and throughout the United States.
His concerts were broadcast live many times: three times from the Los Angeles Museum of Art by WUSC Radio Station; as well as TV live broadcasts throughout Europe and North America via satellite, just to menation a few. Additionally, he has recorded for numerous radio and TV stations in five American cities, Hungary, and Bulgaria. Since 2003, he frequently records at the Bulgarian National Radio, by their invitation.
Between 2003 and 2006 he performed over 150 concerts in Italy, made his recital debut in Vienna, performed at the European Music Festival with the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic, gave master classes and concerts in South Korea, and performed in France, Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, and Austria. Concerts also included two major recitals in Paris as part of festivities honoring the world-renowned pianist Alexis Weissenberg. Engagements for the 2006/2007 season included concert tours in Italy and Japan, as well as concerts in France, Germany, Great Britain, and Bulgaria.
In September 2007, Mr. Yanakov received the Recognition of Excellence from NATO's chief commander in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he appeared as a special guest with Sarajevo Philharmonic, in a gala concert in honor of the U.S. Ambassador.
Mr. Yanakov is the Music Director and co-founder of Siena Belcanto, a music festival in Italy.
