Biography
Genevieve Higham was born in Melbourne, Australia. She started playing the piano at the age of five and began competing in piano competitions as a soloist at the age of seven. During secondary studies she completed the Australian Music Examination Board Series for classical Piano with a distinction before receiving a music scholarship to complete her secondary studies receiving a high distinction in the study of Music Performance (Solo Piano). Genevieve went on to complete her Bachelor of Music with first class Honours at the Conservatoire of Music, The University of Melbourne (Australia) in 2005.
Genevieve has always had a passion for teaching, taking her first students in 1996 and spending six years teaching both children and adults from beginner to advanced levels. She has experience teaching a range of syllabuses from classical piano to group classes with Yamaha Music Schools Australia. She is enthusiastic, organized and extremely motivated to engage her students in the joy of creating music and developing their talents. In her spare time Genevieve also enjoys playing guitar, violin and singing in choirs.
Genevieve has participated in courses and master classes with pianists Dr Ian Holtham, Caroline Almonte and Ronald Farren-Price (amongst others). She has performed both as soloist and accompanist in Melbourne and regional Australia.
