Biography
As a soloist, Chris has given recitals throughout UK and in Singapore, as well as concerto appearances including the Mozart Orchestra, Bristol University Chamber Orchestra and Wymondham Symphony Orchestra playing concertos by Schumann, Grieg, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov and Grainger. He was awarded a Distinction for his MA degree in performance and for his recitals of all-British piano music. Chris regularly accompanies postgraduate students at the Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College, as well as students at Oxford, Bristol and Cambridge University as well as for competitions including Richard Tauber Prize and Kathleen Ferrier Awards. He has been awarded a scholarship to study at postgraduate level (piano accompaniment) at the Royal Academy of Music and attended the Royal Academy of Music Saturday school for several years whilst at school. More recently he has been working as accompanist for the renowned violinist Charles Siem with concerts around the UK including the Norwegian Embassy, Queen’s College, Cambridge and the Newbury Corn Exchange.
As a director, Chris has been invited to conduct a range of ensembles including the European Medics Symphony Orchestra, City of Bristol Brass Band, Bristol Soloists Orchestra, Weston Brass, and most recently the Orchestra of the City (London) and Blaze!. He has given concerts in St John’s, Smith Square, London, St. George’s, Bristol and Truro Cathdreal, tours to South Wales and the West Country, performances on BBC Radio, produced a live CD, and over the last 3 years has toured the Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, Belgium and the UK including Bristol (St. George’s Bristol and Victoria Rooms), Swansea, Cornwall and elsewhere in England.
As a teacher, Chris works for a music school in Wimbledon as well as having private pupils. He is equally at home in teaching adults and children, having much experience of teaching pupils of all ages and abilites. He has also been trained in classroom teaching, although lessons are generally one-on-one tuition.
