Biography
Carolyn Johnson-Wu studied at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, gaining a Bachelor of Music with first class honours. She was awarded several scholarships from the University and Creative New Zealand to continue her studies abroad, and moved to London in 2001 to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She studied with Paul Roberts and graduated with a Masters Degree in 2002. Since then, Carolyn has been a prize winner in many competitions, and won the Mitchell Overseas Award in 2004 and the Irene Brown Overseas Award in 2004 (Royal Overseas League Competition). She was also runner-up in the 2004 Eastbourne Soloist of the Year. In New Zealand, Carolyn won 2nd prize in the 2000 Young Musician of the Year and 1999 National Concerto Competition.
She has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the UK National Musicians Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Carolyn regularly performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist in London and abroad. Future plans include concerts in Austria and in the UK. Carolyn also enjoys teaching and has over eight years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels.
